Rachel Maby

Schools Singing Leader

Rachel is the Schools Singing Leader at West Sussex Music, uniting young people across the county through inclusive singing programs and supporting teachers in classroom music delivery. She collaborates with headteachers, music subject leaders, and non-specialist class teachers to build confidence in singing instruction, support schools with their music development plans, and embed high-quality, inclusive singing practices.

Rachel runs a comprehensive program of CPD, bespoke support, co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities, massed singing events, and projects, such as the annual Big Sings and Little Big Sings. She also provides advice on resources, much of which is free.

Before joining West Sussex Music, Rachel accumulated over a decade of experience in performing, conducting, arranging, and delivering music outreach programs in various settings, from schools to refugee centres. She has worked with organisations such as The Sixteen, Welsh National Opera, Guildhall Young Artists, and Spitalfields Music. Additionally, she has served as a choral practitioner for the Voices Foundation, training teachers in classroom music delivery with a focus on singing and musicianship.
