Russ received extensive training during his years working for music services, most recently in the areas of diversity (and the educational aspects of race and gender equality) and in the mechanisms by which the brain processes information and how this impacts on emotional reactions and learning outcomes.
Russ is an experienced teacher, beginning his teaching journey over 20 years ago in the Middle East before returning to the UK in the early 2000s, since when he has been based in Brighton. Russ has been teaching for music services for 18 years, and has extensive experience teaching individuals and small groups in person and via online platforms, coaching string orchestras and chamber music groups from beginner to advanced levels.
Russ is highly adaptable, tailoring his approach to give students the best outcomes by maximising their enjoyment of learning to express themselves musically. When not teaching, Russ is an active performer, playing with groups throughout the South East and beyond. His principal non-musical passions centre around cats, coffee and tea.
