Karen van Lokven

Karen has worked as an instrumental teacher since 2004, joining Surrey Arts in 2005 and working in both public and private sector primary and secondary schools. In 2012 she began training with Colourstrings International and the British Kodaly Academy and started delivering pre-school and primary age musicianship classes for the Len Tyler Music School and Junior Guildhall.

Karen joined the team at West Sussex Music after training to become a primary school class teacher at Chichester University in 2020 and being awarded QTS in 2021. She now divides her time between teaching a class of year 3 and 4 children in a lovely West Sussex school, teaching musicianship for Vivace Music School, delivering WCET to local West Sussex schools and sharing her passion for quality music education through accessible instrumental lessons.
