“Let’s Sing!” – A Campaign to return singing to the heart of school life in West Sussex
Following a challenging year for promoting singing in schools, we will be offering a series of free CPD sessions in the autumn term to refresh your skills and offer a little inspiration.
These sessions will include a set of songs from the Voiceworks series for you to use in your schools during the autumn term.
Led by Sarah Forbes, Director of the West Sussex Youth Choirs, the sessions will:
- Look at best practice when leading singing sessions
- Help less confident music leaders to get going with singing in their schools
- Teach a set of songs you can use in your school
- Offer peer support for what is and isn’t working, to reinvigorate singing in your school
- Culminate in an online event to bring schools together using the songs we have learnt in the sessions
Sessions will take place via Zoom, as follows:

To book your place on this series of CPD sessions, please e-mail judith.finlay@westsussexmusic.co.uk, stating which sessions you would like to attend so that we can send a Zoom link nearer the time.
We will be looking for schools to host the first of these sessions in the autumn. Host schools will need:
- A group of children Sarah can work with for part of the session who are confident and comfortable with being broadcast on Zoom
- A school hall or similar with access to a strong and reliable internet connection
