Make music with the RPO

We are thrilled to offer TWO free creative music workshops where children in Crawley will have the opportunity to make music with members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO).
The youngsters will also get an exclusive opportunity to watch the RPO in rehearsal the following day!
Both workshops take place on Saturday 5 April at The Mill Primary Academy in Crawley.
In the morning there is a Key Stage 2 creative instrumental music session, from 10am to 12.30pm, which is open to any child local to Crawley aged 8 to 11 yrs old of any playing ability and instrument. Simply bring your instrument and get immersed in making music. No ability to read music is required.

The afternoon workshop, taking place from 1.30pm-4pm is open to all children and young people between 8 to 25 years old, and their parent/carer, with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). We’ll be using the session to explore sounds and be creative together. No previous experience is necessary we’ll provide instruments and equipment.

RPO workshop participants also get the opportunity to watch the orchestra rehearse the next day!
James Underwood, Chief Executive for West Sussex Music, said:
“We’re very fortunate that so many world-renowned music organisations want to work with us and share their experiences with children and young people. The young people who came to the RPO workshops last year had a fantastic time. The opportunity to watch the RPO rehearse the next day at The Hawth is a very special opportunity.”
