Education & training

Hannah is an upper strings specialist, with focus on viola and violin. She began playing the violin at the age of five, and then took up the viola aged seven. Hannah is trained in classical and Baroque music, having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a 1st class (Hons) degree in 2021, and has a hugely varied playing career in addition to her teaching. Furthermore, she completed her LRAM certification in teaching in 2020, while studying at the academy.

Hannah is a WSM alumnae, having played with the West Sussex Youth Orchestra for five years, as well as attending music centre choir and string orchestra sessions. She is delighted to be now working for WSM and is passionate about encouraging children’s musical creativity, and enjoys tailoring her teaching style to the needs of the individual/ group.

Skills & experience

Hannah is a keen chamber musician, playing viola for the Piccadilly Sinfonietta, a chamber orchestra based in London. In contrast to this, she also performs regularly with a string quartet for weddings, corporate events, at festivals and recording with bands.

Hannah is an experienced teacher and coach and has taught for nine years. Her pupils have ranged from all ages, taught both individually and in groups, from beginners to experienced instrumentalists.

As an orchestral musician, Hannah has performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, and has toured with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

She has performed the major viola concertos and Mozart Sinfonia Concertante alongside Julia Bishop. In January 2025 she will perform Harold in Italy with Farnborough Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Charlotte Politi, and in July 2025 she will perform Forsyth’s Viola Concerto with the Kingston Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Lewis Gaston. She has experience as a pit musician, working for musical theatre and opera. She performed the solo violin role for The Producers in the West End in 2022, as well as playing viola for productions of Eugene Onegin, Faust, Aida and La Cenerentola with Guildford Opera.

Hannah is an experienced session musician, having recorded with the Piccadilly Sinfonietta, the Last Dinner Party, Ferris & Sylvester and solo sampling for WaveRunner Audio. Hannah is a member of Halo Strings, with whom she performs regularly both in the UK and internationally. She has performed at many incredible venues, including Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace and Birmingham Symphony Hall.
