Talented spring display
West Sussex Music was well represented at the recent County Ensembles Spring Concert which took place at Midhurst last weekend.
West Sussex Youth Orchestra, West Sussex Youth Wind Orchestra, West Sussex Youth String Orchestra, and West Sussex Youth Choir all performed at the spring concert on Sunday 17 March at Midhurst Rother College, to a rapt audience that included the Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, Lady Emma Barnard.
West Sussex Youth Wind Orchestra was conducted by Vincent Godfrey, West Sussex Youth Choir was conducted by Mark Bradbury, West Sussex Youth Orchestra and String Orchestras were conducted by Adam Barker.
James Underwood, Chief Executive for West Sussex Music, said:
“The County Ensembles’ spring concert was a fantastic evening filled with extraordinary talent on display. It’s a testament to the hard work that the students and our staff put in all year round and a true celebration of everything West Sussex Music aims to achieve.”
The spring concert marked an exhilarating end to a term of musical accomplishments for these groups. It also gave a valuable opportunity for the West Sussex Youth Choir to showcase repertoire prior to their upcoming choir tour to Normandy during May half-term.
This term has seen a period of exciting growth and achievements for the West Sussex Music Centres. In January we successfully relocated our Chichester Music Centre to Saturdays, inaugurated a brand-new Music Centre at Bognor Regis and during the spring we’ve seen growth at our Worthing and Horsham Music Centres. In addition to these milestones, our 2024 Tomorrow’s Orchestra Programme for beginner instrumentalists has taken off this term with gusto, and all our ensembles have gained new members.
