TOP performances in schools

This week 12 schools in the county will be playing host to a series of concerts provided by West Sussex Music, certain to bring some joy and entertainment to all the children who will be in the audiences. 

These live music concerts will take place across the county including at Nyewood CE Junior, Bishop Tufnell CE Primary, Southway Primary and Bartons Primary in Bognor Regis on Monday 27 November; Handcross Primary, Castlewood Primary, Barns Green Primary and Billingshurst Primary in the Horsham district on Thursday 30 November, and at River Beach Primary and Summerlea Community Primary, in Littlehampton, and Broadwater CE Primary and Thomas A Becket Junior, in Worthing, on Friday 1 December.   

All schools will have concerts delivered by music specialists from West Sussex Music where pupils will be able enjoy a free music concert, with some games and opportunities to join in, so children can find out how much fun playing and performing music can be. 

James Underwood, Chief Executive of West Sussex Music, said: 

“We love bringing live music to schools across the county. Children and young people are always so engaged when we’re performing and we often find they’re inspired to be musical themselves, by taking up an instrument at school or with us via our Tomorrow’s Orchestra Programme which begins again in January.” 

The Tomorrow’s Orchestra Programme will be entering its third year and combines free instrumental lessons and free instrument loan with weekly orchestral sessions. 

 Known as TOP24, it has been created as a fast-track route from absolute beginner to confident musician within a few short months. TOP24 will also introduce children to the thrill of playing in an orchestra and making new friends.  

 TOP24 lasts for three terms, starting in January, with sessions taking place at our Bognor Regis, Chichester, Horsham, and Worthing music centres. The first term is completely free, with the following two terms costing just £70 each term. 

 If your child or the child you care for loves music and is aged between seven and 11 years old, TOP24 is an amazing opportunity to nurture that curiosity and help them develop skills which will last a lifetime.
