A week of musical celebrations

It was a week of music-making all over the county as West Sussex Music Centre presentations and concerts took place at venues around the county, and the County Ensembles spring concert rounded off the weekend in Midhurst.
West Sussex Music held end of term music centre presentations at Midhurst on Tuesday evening, Bognor Regis on Thursday evening and at Chichester, Horsham and Worthing on Saturday 29 March.
The presentations included performances from the Tomorrow’s Orchestra, Drum Lab, Young Voices, the Junior Orchestras, and Training Orchestras.
On the Sunday, it was the County Ensembles Spring Concert held at Midhurst Rother College. The concert included performances by West Sussex Youth Orchestra, West Sussex Youth String Orchestra, West Sussex Youth Wind Orchestra and West Sussex Youth Choir and West Sussex Young Voices.
Many pieces were performed including A Tribute to Billy Joel, Northern Lights by Ola Gjeilo, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and Symphony Fantastique by Berlioz
John Randall, Music Centres Manager at West Sussex Music, said:
“The presentations and concerts are a chance for all our young musicians to shine. After all the rehearsals and practice sessions, the families and friends listening really enjoyed hearing how the groups have progressed during the term. We know that performances like these build young peoples’ self-confidence and resilience and our talented musicians always enjoy the feeling that performing in front of an audience gives.”
With groups to suit every instrument and taste, there’s something musical for everyone provided by West Sussex Music, take a look at the website for more information about the activities available at our music centres.
